The educational platform 'iTunes U' still growing unstoppable

The same that Apple has to point to his list of accomplishments: his support to the educational world. The company has been one of the first technology companies to bet on interactive textbooks through mini iPads and iPads, and already in 2007 he showed his interest in education with the introduction of the platform 'iTunes U'. Here's how Apple describes 'iTunes U':

"ITunes U offers the largest online catalog of free educational content in the world, created by major schools, prestigious libraries, museums and organizations. This content helps teachers create courses, lectures, assignments, books, quizzes and other materials to iOS users worldwide. "

Only at the beginning of last year, iTunes U got its own application. Since its inception, iTunes U has already managed to register more than 1,000 million downloads of content: a record that Apple announced this week. In the words of Eddy Cue, senior vice president of Apple Software:

"For us it is a great motivation to see the amount of things that teachers and students of all kinds are doing with iTunes U. With the incredible content available on iTunes U, students can learn entirely new ways. Some iTunes U courses are more than 250,000 students enrolled, and this is an extraordinary change in the way we teach and learn. "

According to Apple, about 1,200 universities and 1,200 colleges offer more than 2,500 courses across the platform. Prestigious universities such as Oxford and Cambridge, make use of iTunes U to distribute their content to more than 100,000 students. In addition, iTunes U experiences a great reception internationally, and that 60% of discharges occurring outside the United States.

Any teacher can create content and upload to iTunes U through iTunes Store in 30 countries. Of course, the distribution will reach 155 countries.

Although it seems that the educational landscape is not a priority right now in Apple's business, the fact is that the company is entering the market slowly with firm steps.
