Apple Launches new Promotional Links from the App Store in the Super Bowl

Apple announced a few days ago the possibility for developers to promote their applications under the direction appstore.com iOS. Since we can find an application using this address plus the name of the application. Example:

appstore.com / wunderlist

This is a tremendous simplification of the links so far used by iTunes. And it's smart, because if the same name exist several results will show a search with that term, and will send you to the app store that matches your country.

Apple releases new promotional links in Super Bowl

Well, as you can see in the picture above, Apple has released its new links. On Sunday the Super Bowl was held in the United States. A sporting event that attracts hundreds of millions of viewers. Almost as much anticipation as the game itself create ads that are broadcast at halftime. One was the trailer for the upcoming Star Trek movie, Star Trek Into Darkness, in which, at the end of the announcement, we saw the premiere of the new promotional links that Apple launched last week. The new URL gives developers an easier way for customers to find your application, rather than having to be searching the vast App Store.

These new links are also used for the Mac App Store, developers can use the URL appstore.com / mac / "application name or company name".

However, these new links have certain restrictions. You can not use punctuation marks, ampersands or other symbols. As mentioned above, the URL can be accessed from around the world and direct the customer to the App Store in the country concerned.

Previously Apple offered short links using the URL from itunes.com. The recent launch of short links under the direction appstore.com replace itunes.com addresses. The developers have been informed that their itunes.com links still work, but you should upgrade as soon as possible.

The trademark "App Store" and the domain name AppStore.com was granted to Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in 2008 by Mark Benioff, CEO of Salesforce. The rights charters given as a token of thanks from Benioff to Jobs for his vision and support staff over the years.
