iTunes does not detect an iPad or iPhone What do I do?

itunes usb iTunes no detecta un iPad o iPhone ¿Qué hago?

Although not common, there are times when the computer you're connected an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch will not be able to recognize the device. When this happens we have to use different tests to rule out that the error is the computer, software, USB cable before you think you could be facing a failure iDevice itself.

Checks if iTunes does not recognize an iPad or iPhone

The first thing you should try is to close and reopen iTunes . Proof seems quite "rough" but sometimes it works. But this does not resolve anything, we can try to disconnect the device and reconnect both by the end of the cable that connects the device and on the computer side (it is also advisable to try different USB ports).

If these tests have not yielded the desired result, had to restart the device. The first step would be to restart the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and see if it recognizes this way. If it does not, restart the computer and see if the restart is recognized. If none of these tests has failed, we can try to connect the device again using a different USB cable (if possible, be original Apple cable).

Although unlikely, it is possible that none of these options has resulted. The next test, be sure that we have the latest version of iTunes available (via software update to Mac or from the application Apple Software Update on Windows). In case you have the latest version, you can try to uninstall and reinstall.

The process is simple:

eliminar itunes iTunes no detecta un iPad o iPhone ¿Qué hago?

  • We run the Terminal application to find in the Utilities folder in Applications.
  • You type the command cd / Applications. This will access the Applications folder in Mac OS X.
  • Now we enter the command sudo rm-rf
  • We asked the administrator password and give it completely removed from our Mac iTunes

For a Windows PC, go to Add or Remove Programs Control Panel to completely remove the application. In either case the process will remove the music stored on your computer.

The next step is to install the application again. We'll have to download the latest version from the Apple website and follow the steps to install it again.

If even after reinstalling iTunes and all checks above, the computer still does not recognize the device, we should start thinking that this is a problem of the iDevice and we'll have to go through an official Apple service so they can review it.
