As each quarter, the firm has published its report Gartnet terminal sales, market shares of manufacturers, platforms and smartphones.

In the new report shows that the overall mobile phone sales worldwide fell around 3%, although total sales of smartphones in the world has been of 169.2 million units during the third quarter, This represents an increase of 47% compared with the same quarter last year.

Apple still ranks third as the manufacturer has sold more handsets, Samsung and Nokia are ranked first and second respectively. Still, smartphone sales Samsung and Apple together account for 46.5% of total market sales. This figure only includes smartphones, mobile phones does not include normal.

Apple has achieved sales of 23.6 million units in the third quarter, Samsung meanwhile has passed and has managed to put about 55 million units of smartphones, thanks in part to the huge demand for its successful range Galaxy.

The iPhone 5 could lead to major changes in the next quarterly report

As for the battle between Android and iOS, Gartnet numbers show that Android increased its market share by almost 20 percentage points in the quarter and has made 72.4% of total sales, compared to 52.5% of same quarter last year. Apple, however, has only 13.9% of sales in the quarter, up from 15% the previous year. Anyway the thing Gartnet expected to change in the next quarter, when including sales of the new iPhone 5 .

No doubt the war between iOS and Android is more acute than ever, and Android is being greatly benefited by the price difference and the huge variety of devices on the market. iOS on the other hand, is only available in the smartphone from a company and also no different models available, only one.
