New Apple TV update (5.1) available for download

After the massive update iOS 6 that was published last week (and I mean massive because until last weekend have been over 100 million upgrades to new OS), Apple released a new update for the Apple TV, version 5.1, available for models of Second and Third Generation.

As mentioned most significant improvements compatibility with Shared Photo Stream, Airplay support to send content to compatible devices and the ability to save different iTunes accounts (if you have them) and switch between them quickly. We leave all the news after the jump:

  • Share Photo Stream: Ability to accept invitations to shared albums, see photos and comments, and receive notifications of new content.
  • Airplay: The ability to send audio content to Apple TV AirPlay speakers (including Apple AirPort Express and other TV's).
  • Changing iTunes accounts: We can save multiple iTunes accounts with the ability to quickly switch between them.
  • Trailers: Search for movie trailers (in the U.S. also allows viewing schedules local cinemas).
  • Main Menu: Ability to rearrange the icons just like in the iPhone and iPad.
  • Subtitles: Support SDH subtitles for the deaf, as well as improvements in visualization and subtitle selection.
  • Network Configuration: Help to configure advanced networking options using configuration profiles.
  • Stability and performance: includes performance enhancements and stability.
